Hello,

Anyone here with experience sponsoring an orphaned nephew or niece?
My nephew is 12 years old. Will he need to fill any of the forms or do I fill them on his behalf because he is a minor?

I know there's a part where he is not allowed to sign, but does he fill the rest of the General Application form as principal applicant and I sign?

Thanks.

A 12 year old child should not be left to fill out the forms himself. Who has had custody or been caring for the child since his parents died?

I have been supporting the child since the parents died. But the boy lives with the grandparents --my parents, outside Canada.

Do you have death certificate for both parents?
I have death certificates for both parents.
The child has been living with my parents since he was born (he was born in their house). They’re legal guardians because they’re grandparents.

As his legal guardians, I believe they sign the forms on his behalf.
