Does anyone know if I MUST give original documents? I'm asking because i was going to certify all original documents, however on the check-list it says to provide the original police certificate.

For starters it was extremely difficult to obtain one of the police certificates, so Im a bit hesitant to provide the original considering i dont know how easily ill get another one should i need it. Not to mention I thought that certifying original documents was done so that the original does not have to be provided in the application package. Is this correct?

What do you guys think, should i just give all original police, marriage, & birth certificates and not bother with certifying them since they're originals? Or should i get notarial/certified true copy's of all the original doc's and send those?

Thanks for the read!

Don't overthink things.

If the instructions say to submit an original, send the original (but make a copy for your records). CIC explicitly states that the PCC MUST be the original. Why would you need to keep the original anyway? What else would you possibly need it for? LOL!

There are some things that can be copies, or even certified copies, but the PCC is NOT one of them.

I agree, its just that we went through hell just to obtain one of these certificates, and honestly its very likely that we wont be able to get another one. Anyways i imagine they wont ask to have another down the line so it should be safe to give the original.

As always, thanks Ponga!

EDIT
By the way, am I correct in saying that if I put the original doc's in the application package, that they don't need to be certified as true copy's? (wouldn't that be redundant?)

If that's the case i may as well just submit all the originals and save some money by not getting a certified true copy of each document. Obviously the translation + affidavit will be included, but that's something else.

Does this sound about right or am i getting something wrong here?
Thanks
