We the affected persons of the passing of bill c24 should organize sufficient media coverage on the unconstitutional and other negative aspects of the bill c24 before it is passed in the House of Commons and Senate. It seems the conservative government is making hasty efforts to pass the bill. We are thankful to the members of parliament of both NDP and Liberal parties for debating the bad aspects of the bill. But I think we should organize immediately press conferences for news papers, tv channels and radio stations. Below is the contact of the lawyer who already challenged it in the court. His contact details are below, please support him:

There is only one way delaying the whole process, if some body file a petition in the crown court or supreme court and get the stay order, till the judge hear the petition and make the decision.

Is there any one in this forum who is a lawyer and could file a petition in the Crown Court or Supreme Court to delay the whole process of the bill ?

If we can surely contribute the money would do so

And folks seems the bill has its way towards the end:

Status of the bill:

http://www.parl.gc.ca/LEGISInfo/BillDetails.aspx?Language=E&Mode=1&billId=6401990&View=0

This Monday: (http://www.parl.gc.ca/HousePublications/Publication.aspx?pub=projected&language=E)

12:00 noon
GOVERNMENT ORDERS

Government Bills (Commons)

C-24 — The Minister of Citizenship and Immigration — Strengthening Canadian Citizenship Act — Report stage (resuming debate on the motions in Group No. 1)

Length of speeches, pursuant to Standing Orders 43 and 76.1(7):

All Members — 10 minutes maximum and speeches are subject to a 5-minute question and comment period.

Report stage concurrence motion — question to be put immediately after the report stage motions are disposed of, pursuant to Standing Order 76.1(9).

Time allocation motion — notice given Friday, June 6, 2014, pursuant to Standing Order 78(3).

My say is this :

There is this petition :

https://www.change.org/en-CA/petitions/hon-chris-alexander-pc-mp-canadian-government-stop-bill-c-24-don-t-turn-millions-of-us-into-second-class-canadian-citizens

http://www.change.org/en-CA/petitions/withdraw-bill-c-24-honour-the-charter-or-rights-freedoms

Signing on this petition and submitting to the ministry is like we are successfully doing our signing from our end but.. from their end if they do not accept it and passes it

for us applicants who have stayed qualifying years and are on the margin on applying for 2 months or few weeks we might miss the chance for the application

this week is the last chance if the people of this forum wants to do something out of it

a rally , demonstration, going in front of the media what so ever this is the last chance last opportunity some guy said doing an appeal the message was this :

" if some body file a petition in the crown court or supreme court and get the stay order, till the judge hear the petition and make the decision. "

So for the folks who really care about their application and the nearby days to be qualified if seriously you wanna slow it down i believe filing in the crown court would be a good idea

but still if somehow if it was possible to gather the attention of media something could have been done anyways if seriously folks you wanna slow it down... wanna make a get together a meeting Huh

Lets do it ...

Thanks

Citizenship is not a licence the government can revoke for misbehavior

- Citizenship stripping is not commonplace in other countries. Bill C-24 makes Canada an outlier among western states

- It is the role of the criminal justice system, not elected officials, to punish people for wrongdoing

- The new law does not just target criminal wrongdoers; it poses a serious threat to the rights of all Canadians

- Citizenship is not a privilege; it is an interest fundamental to full membership in Canadian society

- The new law greatly reduces due-process rights, replacing fair judicial process with Ministerial discretion

- The new law diminishes the ties non-permanent residents have established in Canada

- The new law does not adequately ensure citizens maintain strong ties to Canada

- The new law does not strengthen or protect the value of Canadian citizenship; it diminishes it

I like your motivation. But a couple of things to help you get clarity on your own methods:

1. Usually press conferences are organized to break a news. What news do you want to break in your conference?

2. You can focus your energies on the Supreme court. The only Crown Courts I know of are located in the UK. I don't think they would want to hear your petition.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestion

Answer 1. I want to organize a conference of these people from this forum within us , and we will give big opinions we can surely invite media people if they want to or we can start it making it viral on Youtube.

Answer 2. Yes , you are right we can focus on supreme court.

There was a senate meeting about this bill C24:

Folks click this link below :

http://senparlvu.parl.gc.ca/Guide.aspx?viewmode=4&categoryid=-1&currentdate=2014-06-10&languagecode=12298&eventid=9570

then click on view this clip

Thanks

Bill C-24 has passed the House of Commons and is now being considered by the Senate. At this point, you could contact BC's senators to tell them how you feel. You can find a list of BC's senators here: http://www.parl.gc.ca/SenatorsMembers/Senate/SenatorsBiography/isenator.asp?Language=E&sortord=P#ProvBC Other than that, there's not much that individuals can do at this point, but it's worth contacting the senators for sure. The more they hear about how people object to the bill the better.

Folks now you can make a choice on it it's like an internet ballot box

See the link below. The CBC political expert Evan Solomon has posed this question about stripping citizenship. Every one is allowed to vote on the issue

Go ahead and make the choice.

Folks if you would like to write to senators, these are the things to follow:

I would certainly write BC's Senators if I were you, as well as the NDP and Liberal Citizenship and Immigration critics (each party has an MP which specializes in a specific ministry). If I were you I would: (a) be very polite; (b) not demand your "rights" or "justice". The reality is that this bill made be bad policy (I think it is) but the only thing that really tramples people's rights is the ability to strip citizenship from people who have it; and (c) restrict your efforts to getting something small and specific done, namely, a "grandfather" clause which would mean that people (like you) who were very nearly at the end of the waiting period can get citizenship when they expected it. Don't ask for "fairness" or make demands; that always gets people's backs up. Instead, invite them to sympathize with you by being polite, eager, and someone who can't wait to stitch the Maple Leaf to her backpack.

To add an explanation of "grandfather" clause:

for people like you to be grandfathered (the usual language is something like "the new rules apply to everyone except persons who became permanent residents before September 1, 2013", etc. The general argument is that people have made plans on the basis of the old rules and it's disruptive to change the rules on them, and there's little cost to maintaining the old rules)

Folks you can email the respective Senators please do so explaining you do not support the bill :

http://www.parl.gc.ca/SenatorsMembers/Senate/SenatorsBiography/isenator_det.asp?senator_id=2787&sortord=P&Language=E&M=M

So after seeing the video clip of today's Senate meeting it still seems they are trying to push it but they did consider the witnesses

Folks email to the senators contact the lawyer above sign the petition try the best

Marcus friend feels hope after your words when do you think it would be in effect friend ?

I don't issue any predictions as to when the new bill will take effect. There is no way to know.

What I do know is what has happened in the past with similar immigration and citizenship bills. It took months for those bills to take effect after passage in Parliament. For example, for the last citizenship bill (C-37) it took one full year for it to take effect on April 17, 2009 after it was passed on April 18, 2008. For another example, the last major immigration bill took at least six months to take effect on June 18, 2002.

It takes months for the implementation of any major bills like this. Bill C-24 has not even passed one chamber yet. So anyone who claims the bill will take effect within a matter of days is a sheer ignorant person with no understanding of how the federal government moves.

There will be a Senate meeting regarding this Bill C24 today at 3 Pm :
