How to i get option c, like i think its a tax form?
what kind of tax form do i need for it?
how do i get it

Read the document checklist. There is a number provided there with instructions on how to get it.

1 800 959-8281

Call that number. Have your wallet ready as they will ask certain information only you know (banking info for example) and say you need Option C for immigration and they will send it to you free of charge.

You can call Canada Revenue Agency and ask them to mail you option C. Call 1-800-959-8281 to obtain the Option C print out.

call CRA 18009598281. press * to skip directly and go to an agent....it will take a while for your option C printout to come...i would not wait if my whole application is ready. Just send it in with your 2010 NOA (Notice of Assessment) or 2011 if you have it already and your 2011 T4's or payslips for the whole year!!!! - DISCLAIMER - just saying this is what i would do. you do as you deem appropriate.

It takes a while? I got mine in a week and a half :-\

Yeah, mine took about a week. Since we are on the cusp of tax season, do you think they know or not if I did my taxes already?

yea ummm you can say disclaimer again, I would not suggest this in anyway. The option C comes in a week easy, and is required for the app, why add delays to your application. A week wait versus months of delay.....no brainer. Order the option c, it is 1 phone call and comes in a week. PLEASE PPL STOP CUTTING CORNERS THEN COMPLAINING ABOUT LONG WAIT TIMES FOR APPLICATION PROCESSING!!!! It is so so so unnecessary!!! You are stopping yourselves from being reunited with you family, and being finished with the stressful immigration process!

I agree with Mrslwsn but I will say that I didn't send in my option C. I will explain...

I misread that I had to call for the Option C... so I went to H&R where I got my taxes done and asked them if they could provide it for me... they had no idea what it was but said it sounds like your NOtice of Assessment and so they went online and printed it off for me (I didnt know about this forum at the time) I thought I was good til the day I was ready to mail off the app and was finechecking everything when I noticed it has to be ORIGINAL Option C and I knew wht I had was WRONG. I immediatley called the number to order it but by the next friday I still didnt have it and I was leaving to go visit hubby in Jamaica for 3 weeks and if I waited til I returned then hubbys police check would have been past 3 months so I didnt want to wait. INSTEAD, I submitted my ORIGINAL notice of assessment with a letter explaining what had happened (taking responsibilty for my misreading the requirement) and a promise to send in Original Option C when required to do so. I was approved of sponsorship within the regular wait time and was never asked for the document.

I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS FOR A SHORTCUT!!!!!!!!!!!! I DID SO GIVING MY POLICE RECORD EXPIRY DATE! Just thought I would share in case anyone is is in a similar situation.

If you have the time to do it proper, then do so... each immigration officer is defferent and one may not have accepted my document or my explanation... I BELIEVE I GOT LUCKY!!!!!!!

GOOD LUCK

I think I can sum up this whole thing by saying the following:

1. If you have lived and worked in Canada the past year or two, definitely get the Option C Printout. It takes about a week or two, max (if you're in Canada).

2. If you have not lived and worked in Canada for a number of years (let's say since 2001 - in my case), there is NO POINT in providing the Option C Printout. Why? Simple. They require the most recent information, so even if you have one that dates back to the mid to late 90s, it will be pointless for the purposes of CIC. Instead, if you have been working in a foreign country, provide a notarized certified translation of your most recent tax assessment. For me, I am providing my tax assessment from 2010 because the one for 2011 has not yet been released.

It's not that complicated. CIC just wants to make sure you have not been bankrupt and have not been in receipt of government financial assistance.

Hope that clears it up.

Hi

I sponsored my parents three years ago and I submitted my option C for the corresponding tax year. Now I got a letter from Canada immigration requesting me to submit " option C for tax year that I originally submitted my application". I didn't have enough income on that year because I was studying for my boarding exam. However, I am now a full time professional with more than the required income to sponsor my family. What should I do? I appreciate any help.

Thanks

I would submit your original option c as requested, plus your current option c, along with a cover letter explaining your income increase. But I am not an expert.
