Option C printout question

Hi guys

Just a question about the Option C printout from Canada Revenue.

My wife has not worked in Canada for about 4 years and has been living with me in South Africa for the last year almost.

Would she need to provide this document or can she write a letter to state that she has not worked in the country for the mentioned period of time?

It has always been suggested that you should always include the Option C printout, although my husband also hadn't been working in Canada for a while and so we just included payslips for the last twelve months and he was approved as a sponsor.
