Hi Guys,

I am going to be applying in this month to sponsor my spouse. I have a question regarding Option C.

As it says "Provide an Original Option C Printout of your last Notice of Assessment for the most recent taxation year"

I am a bit confused at this statement. I have not filed my income tax for 2012 therefore I do not have a notice of Assessment from the most recent year.
I have however filed for 2011 and received a Notice of Assessment and have also requested CRA to publish me an Option C for that year.

My question to you guys is: Can I still go ahead and apply with the 2011 Option C or do I need to produce 2012 Option C?

Thanks in advance for your responses.

You can use the 2011 Option C, but since you have until April 30 to file assuming you're not self employed why don't you file now and try and get a 2012 Option C for the ease of your application?
In lieu of your 2012 Option C, some of us have used the previous year's option C plus ample proof of the past year's work such as payslips.

Yeah I agree with you Steph C, just go ahead file your 2012,send your 2011 option C printout along with your pay-stub or employment letter and tell them you will provide the 2012 as soon as you received , my case I only provide employment letter and notice of assessment
and thats all and we got approved , they just wanna know you not active bankrupt or collecting gov benefits,
