Hello everyone,

I am Sumantra from Kolkata. I am a 2012 passout from Jadavpur university(electrical engg.).
Here is the synopsis of my profile-

1) HS score- 90%
2) B.E grade point 7.98/10.
3) work exp- 1yr+

I am appearing for GRE and TOEFL ( will be done within 20 OCT '13)
Now following are my queries:
a) What are my chances of getting a MS with Funding ( I am not expecting full scholarship)
b) chances of getting a job after MS.
c) Can I apply for integrated PHD?
d)What are the universities I should be looking for? ( If I can score 110+ in TOEFL).
e) Last but not least my considering GRE and TOEFL date will there be enough time to apply for the canadian Universities (fall '2014)?

Your kind comments are solicited :)
Thx

Your academics are excellent. Also, you don't require GRE for canada

1. For M.Sc, professors usually favor students who have some publications in names and some pre- research experience.

2. Chances after MS are good but getting job is purely based on skills, projects and references.

3. Don't know about that. Better contact universities.

4. Ambitious- McMaster, Western Ontario, Ottawa,

Moderate - Saskatchewan, Carleton.

Safe- UNB,Concordia,Dalhousie.

5. For fall'14 you have enough time. But apply as soon possible.

Best of Luck.

Hello again sir,
I am finished with my GRE and TOefl.
My TOEFL score is 106 (r 29 L28 S 24 W 25)
GRE 317 (q 164 V 153)

I am applying for following university for fall '14 for MEng program in electrical engg.
1) UBC
2) U of Waterloo
3) McMaster.
4) Concordia
5) Dalhousie.
6)Carleton
I'll like to know what are your thoughts on my choice.

Some seniors i met in FB said that I don't have any chance if I apply for UBC and Waterloo .
I am really crestfallen hearing that.I'll really appreciate if you can point me into right direction.
p.s only in UBC I am going to apply for Masters in Clean energy program not MEng in Electrical engg.
As you know I'll be taking a huge financial burden over my shoulders in order to pursue Masters in canada. How realistic will it be if I don't get into Top ranked universities like Waterloo or UBc and go for DAL, Windsor, Carleton or Carleton in terms of JOB prospect.
I am desperately in need of some expert advice and I am counting on seniors like you for some.

Thanks again for your time and looking for your reply.
