Hey Everyone,
I am an Australian married to a Canadian citizen and we are going through the in Canada family sponsorship we started to process June 2011 at the same time I also applied for an ope work permit and I can't seem to find the wait time for my open work permit.
Has anybody gone through the same thing and if so how long did you wait for your open work permit? I know that every case is different but like most people on this site I just want to know something =) so if you have gone through it or can send me a link I would be more then grateful..
Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to offer it is very much appreciated.
Thank you (i just want to work) Jason ;D

I assume you applied inland? If you applied inland, then the work permit will be approved when your permanent resident application receives first stage approval. First stage approval is taking approximately 11 months at this time:

As you'll see, they are working on applications from April 30th, 2011 at this time. So it will be about another month and a half until they get to yours.

Hi SCYLLA,
Thank you for your response can I just ask does that mean 11 months from when they start the application? so Im at least 12 months away from an open work permit? Nooooooo!!! lol Thanks again for your response :D

and yes we applied from within Canada the cic websites just says that my application is"in process"

No, it means it takes 11 months for a decision. So if you applied June/11, you can expect an answer in May/12 and if approved an open work permit at the same time.
