Open work permit while waiting for PR

I applied for PR via Federal Skilled workers stream, in a joint application with my wife(she is a primary applicant).
05.01.2021 - AOR(Acknowledgment of Receipt)
02.02.2021 - passed medical check and biometrics
Current status - waiting for the next steps

Since, the entry for people who received COPR after 18.03.2020 is forbidden, I guess the whole process of reviewing the documents for COPR could take a long time.

At the same time, I received a job offer(signed a contract already) from a company based in BC(Vancouver).

Can I apply for an open work permit and come to Canada, while waiting for my PR documents?
If so, in this case, should my wife also apply for an open work permit?

Let's consider both possibilities:
1. Without LMIA - Can I apply for open work permit still in my situation?
2. With LMIA - I guess in this case I can apply for a simple work visa? And as soon as my PR is ready, get a PR?

1. No.
2. If your employer gets an approved LMIA, you can then apply for a closed work permit tied to that employer.

How can you apply without a LMIA unless your are LMIA exempt (See link). You can’t apply (aren’t eligible) for an open work permit. You have a positive LMIA and then apply for a closed work permit that is employer specific.

So you have an H&C application in or you applied for PR (how)? Who is your family in Canada.

You can attempt to get an OWP but it is very unlikely to be approved unless you get AIP. What are your grounds for H&C? Otherwise you. would need to find an employer, they likely need to apply for an LMIA and if that is approved you’d need to apply for a WP. This process take many months and the employer needs to show that nobody legally able to work in Canada can be found to do the job.

On what grounds did you get a the PHAC and what is the expiry date? You also will need to apply to try an extend your visitor status.

OWPs are only granted in limited circumstances.
