Open work permit, No update yet.. Applied In-Canada, new employer, by mail

Hi,

I have applied for Open work Permit on the virtue of my spouses' post graduation work permit on 12 June 2012. The application was sent by mail to Alberta office to Unit-555 on 14 June 2012. Its been more than 55 days that I have applied and the current processing time is 54 days.

I called the CIC people, and they said they are currently processing applications received on 2 June 2012.

The problem is, I have a job offer and the joining date is 13 August 2012.

I am afraid, anticipating to receive my OWP anytime before that.

Is there anyone in a similar situation? Is there a way to speed-up the process?

There's no way to speed things up. Unfortunately all you can do is wait.

I would speak with your future employer now and defer your start date by a few weeks.
