I'm an Italian citizen and my fiancee is From Ucraine.
We were supposed to get married this year but she won a scholarship in Montreal for a phD so we temporarily suspended the wedding while she moved over to Canada to pursue her studies.

Now we would like to reunite in Canada but I don't have a request from an employer there and I saw that any other regular immigration procedure will be too lenghty so we decided to get married anyway this summer (probably in Canada) and then I will apply for an Open Work Permit to stay together at least till the end of her studies.
Since she will be my wife from July on, and she is attending post-graduate studies, I believe that this will be grant me an Open work permit.

Which are the odds that this will happen? and how long does it take considering that Italy is a visa-exempt country. Do u think It is a realistic scenario to think that if we get married in July this year I might be granted the access in Canada\Quebec by fall 2014 assuming all the paper will be done properly?
Can anybody provide a quick road map on how we should proceed?
Thanks a lot everyone
