Open Work Permit - extension

I have come to Canada on a visitor visa. My wife was a student here and hence I could change my visa to an Open Work Permit. However, my wife had to go back to our home country due a family emergency. Will I be able to extend/renew the Open Work Permit? Thank you!

If your wife is no longer attending school - then no, you cannot extend your open work permit.

To continue working in Canada your employer would need to provide you with an approved LMIA and job offer so that you can apply for a closed work permit.
