Open Work Permit Extension via Employer Specific WP

Hi,

I am on my post graduate work permit which is about to expire in 3 months. And I need my employer to extend my work permit. What are the steps that need to be taken by the employer to apply for my work permit. Or is it possible to do so? Should i require a LMIA or employer specific work permit will work? If anyone of you went through this process please guide. Thanks

Your employer needs to obtain an approved LMIA so that you can then apply for a new closed work permit. The LMIA process can easily take 4-6 months to complete - so your employer should start now. The first step is for your employer to advertise the job at least one month to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. Details here:
