Hello everyone. My name is Aston from Sweden and I have some questions regarding an Open Work Permit that I have been granted.

So to try and keep it short, here is my situation: I am currently in the possession of a work permit that states that it will expire on the 30th of April 2019. Last September (2018) I returned to Sweden due to the fact that my 6 month visitation period was up and additionally I wanted to renew my passport as it would be expiring on the 30th of April 2019. Getting a passport in Sweden can take a long time, especially during the winter times as everyone goes on Winter vacation at once so I booked my trip accordingly, giving me ample time to get my passport and additionally spend a Christmas with the family as I had not done so in a while.

In November of 2018 I was given my Work Permit, however it is now tied to my old passport and will expire on the 30th of April 2019. "No biggie" I thought, "I will just renew it when I get back and starting looking for a job immediately".

My questions are as followed:
1) Whom should I contact regarding updating our application & my work permit with my new passport? Our current application status is at a stage where I have gotten my medical exam done and they have inquired about additional information through what appears to be a generated .cic email that is tied to our application, all of which I have provided. I mentioned to the .cic email that I had gotten a new passport but I am under the assumption that I will need to state this somewhere else in a more "official" manner? Where should I do that?

2) How would I go about renewing my Open Work Permit and make sure that it get's tied to my new passport. I've checked around online and from what I can see, I need to apply online with the same process that I did for getting the work permit in the first place, safe for a few different options in the checklist? Do I have to apply for a whole new permit now that I have a new passport rendering the old one basically a waste of money?

3) The Work Permit states that I "Must leave Canada on the 30th of April 2019". I assume it states this due to the fact that my original passport expires at this time. Does this ultimatum take priority over my 6 month visitors status that I was given upon re-entry to Canada? I want to make sure I do not stay illegally by accident due to ignorance. Should I apply for an extended stay even though my visitors status of 6 months will be valid for another 6 months?

I understand that these are heavy questions that I would usually ask the immigration office, however due to the fact that their queues are seemingly full 24/7 and getting in touch with them is proving to be difficult, I was hoping some of the lovely experts on here could assist me as they have many times before.

Thank you very much for your time and any information you can provide me!
