Open work permit extension from within Canada without LMIA

Hi,
My work permit expires on 17 June 2024 but I am still waiting for an ITA. I need to travel back to India for a few days urgently but am concerned if I will be allowed to re-enter with just a couple of days before my work permit expires. I am wondering if I can apply for a work permit extension to show at the border services. I have an open work permit with a full time job but I do not have an LMIA. Request urgent help and suggestions.

On what basis are you applying to extend your open work permit? You can certainly apply for an extension. Just make sure you qualify for one.
 
That is the thing- I do not qualify for one but an immigration consultant said that I can apply for an extension to get some time to get an ITA. My CRS score increased in May this year but there hasn’t been a draw since then. Is there any other way to leave Canada and come back some days before my work permit expires?
 
Okay, can I come back to Canada 3-4 days before my work permit expires? Not sure if that is safe. They shouldn't deny entry right?

Sounds pretty risky but hey you never know. I think if they look closely and started questioning, they will deny entry but if they don't notice they'll let you in. Chances are they won't notice and you will fall through the cracks but it's still a 50/50. Hope for the best and prepare for the worst. One thing to consider is if you were denied entry and wp rejected(which definitely it would be), you will have to mention that in all future applications.
