Open Work permit - Employer

Hi all - the organization I am working with currently in India would like me to continue my job after I go to Canada. I am traveling with my spouse in visitor visa and planning on getting a open work permit at port of entry .

however , my organization doesn’t have a office at Canada. Can I work as an independent consultant without The employer in Canada.

You are working remotely and not for a Canadian employer, correct? What do you mean “the idea is me being on Canadian payroll?” To be on a Canadian payroll, then you need to be working for a Canadian employer. If working remotely, then not an issue on a visitor visa.
