Hi Folks,

My work permit will be expiring by the end of July 2014. Hypothetically, will be eligible to apply for PR under the latest CEC criteria by end of March 2014. Based on my understanding, initially Sydney office will take about 4-5 months to review if I'm eligible or not (max by August 2014) might receive any confirmation.

Since Work Permit will be expiring in the end July 2014, can I apply for bridging work permit sometime in May (without any confirmation from Sydney CIO?

If not, how many days/months before expiry I should apply for bridging work permit?

Any help would be highly appreciative!

Sam

About 40-50 days after you apply you will get, in case your application is complete, the AOR. That's all you need to apply
for the BOWP. You are eligible for the BOWP when your current work permit is due to expire in the next 4 months. So if your current permit
expires in July 2014 you become eligible in March 2014 ( after you got the AOR )

Appreciated Toby for the quick response. My concern is I may not receive the AOR on time or may receive very close my expiry.

AOR only takes 40-50 days, getting faster every day right now. Took over 60 days 3 weeks ago, now it's only 46. Keep
an eye on that, that's your only chance. You need the AOR for the BOWP application. Or extend your current work permit with your employer.

That's some relief to know. May I know where to track down the current AOR duration?

Also, can my employer helps me to extend my workpermit if I don't eligible for BOWP?

Right now September applicants are receiving AORs, here's the spreadsheet.

Also, I keep a list of spreadsheets and other useful information on my website:
