Hi, i was wondering to apply OPNP, as it states processing time of 90 days. Is it really 90 days or more. Did somebody got pnp before?

Many ppl have applied on mid of july to aug last year, still havnt received any update on prescreening result. They say 90 days, but usually it is around 5 to 6 months for first stage.

You can visit ontarioimmigration.ca site

I checked the Ontario immigration website. It says, its PNP program is "employer driven". Meaning people can't apply directly for Ontario PNP by themselves. People have to be selected by employers for a permanent job for they can be considered for Ontario PNP.

For the year 2015, the cap on Ontario PNP is 5,200.

This is mentioned on the Opportunities Ontario: Provincial Nominee Program: Foreign Workers page.

Ontario EE is yet to be announced though!

Ontario PNP is purely employer driven. This info is from Ontario immigration website

If you are a foreign worker, you may be able to apply to Opportunities Ontario for nomination as a permanent resident, under the General Category. Opportunities Ontario has a target of 5,200 nominations in 2015, this includes nominations for both Opportunities Ontario and Express Entry. However, it is important to understand that Opportunities Ontario is employer-driven. This means that if you are seeking nomination, you can apply only if:

  • Your prospective employer has first applied for pre-screening of a position. Investors need to have their investment endorsed.
  • The position has been approved.
  • Your prospective employer sends you the employer’s approval letter, Joint Verification form signed by your prospective employer, and Pre-screen Position form. You can then visit the Forms and Guides page of this website to complete and download the nominee application form.

Thats not entirely true. If you have studied in Canada, specifically in Ontario, there is a stream specifically for masters and PhD students.

Master and Phd student from Ontario don't even need offer letter, they can apply directly. For students who have done diploma and Post Graduate have to go through same process of pre screening as foreign workers have to. Difference is, in foreign worker stream, Employer have to show recruitment efforts which is exempt for student from Canada.
