Dear All,

Please advise on the below query:

Course Location - Ontario
1) I am planning to take up Masters Trade program (2 year)
2) Looking for OINP after the completion
3) After 6 months, I want to bring my family to live with me.
4) Is it practical to study full time and manage living expenses (Rent, food, school, other) of a small family of 3?

Looking forward for a realistic and practical information.
Thanking You.

Ref (4) see here sections 3 financial requirements as a start point but there are many posts on forum of actual expense examples but housing rental will of course be the biggest expense as anywhere more so with a family in tow http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/study/study-how-documents.asp#doc3

On a full time course as you probably know you are only allowed to work 20 hours a week part time which many find can be a struggle to survive if they do not have funds to fall back on. If bringing a family then believe many apply for a work permit for the spouse to supplement income.

You will have to show CIC the whole amount of available funds for study and living. Or at least pay for the first semester, have enough money for living and show CIC a reliable source of future funds.

Do not think that CIC will issue you PR on a condition that you will work to support yourself in Canada.

It does not work in such a way. You must show CIC that you could study and live without working. And if you what to bring your family -you will need to show CIC you could support them too WITHOUT working.

@Regina. Thanks for your message, it's clear that the CIC will want to confirm the present and future financial support for the student and family. It's not going to be easy.
