A quick question.

My wife (principal applicant) passport is going to expire on Aug, 2015. she have visa already stamped on this passport valid till 17 July 2015.

She is traveling on 29 June 2015, will there be any problems on Toronto airport since her visa and passport both are valid but the passport validity remaining is 40 days.

urgent advice needed.

No there wouldn't be any problems on port of entry in Canada. But she will have to of course renew her passport before leaving Canada unless she returns before passport expiry.

Just make sure that Airline wouldn't cause any problems. Sometimes stupid airline employees at check-in country don't understand these things and they could cause delays potentially causing you to miss your flight.

Just renew the expiring passport and travel with the new passport along the old one with the visa stamp. Once landed immigrant visa will be cancelled and she would then apply for her PR card.

If she renews her passport, the old one will be stamped "cancelled". Thats y we r not taking the risk.

Well can't she apply for PR soon after landing? OR she have to wait for a certain time?

She will not be taking any risk; the handling of this scenario has been provisioned for by CIC. As indicated in their Operational Manuals, all she has to do is to make sure that both the passports are together when she travels to Canada. You can verify this by contacting your local VO.

Sec-13.15 of the "Port of Entry Examinations Manual" ENF 4 says:
If an expired passport contains a valid visa counterfoil, the counterfoil can still be used since the expiration of the passport has no effect on the visa's validity. Holders of a valid visa may continue to use their visa until the date it expires even if the visa is in an expired passport. Visitors can fulfil the visa and passport requirements by presenting both the renewed and expired passports containing the valid visa counterfoil to a BSO when seeking entry into Canada. The Regulations state that visas should not be issued longer than the validity of the passport. However, due to preIRPA cases, it is possible to encounter visas in expired passports.
It is not possible to "transfer" a valid visa into a new passport. If the holder of a valid visa wishes to have a visa placed in their new passport or if the passport is deemed ‘not valid' for political or security concerns, visitors must apply for a replacement visa by submitting a new application and paying the replacement document fee in accordance with R311(2).
If the applicant wishes to obtain a visa valid for a longer period in the new document, this will constitute a new temporary resident visa application and any applicable fees resulting from this new application will be collected. The previous visa will subsequently be cancelled.

Other countries, including the U.S. also have this provision in place, https://help.cbp.gov/app/answers/detail/a_id/826/~/what-to-do-if-my-visa-is-in-an-expired-passport

Thanks for the Clarification. Its now clear that it will be no any problems with renewed Passport.

Now even if she wants to renew her passport its not possible to get it before 1 month, since we r not in our home country so we have to renew the passport from Embassy. The embassy take long as 1 month even if its urgent.
So the scenario is if its permissible for her to enter with a valid passport (less than 6 month) she will go with it.

I agree with Jaxon
