Online TRV application with BOWP in hand

Hi Guys,

Can anyone explain the procedure to submit an online application for TRV after obtaining BOWP?
I am submitting TRV application for me and my spouse but the online questionaire is probably not suited for TRV or I am doing something wrong? I called CIC agent and was suggested to put current country of residence as the country of citizenship but I am currently in Canada?
Anyone who has succesfully submitted online TRV family application after getting BOWP?? Please provide your inputs.

I got ny recebt TRV but applied by paper.
I gave Canada as current recieence country.

I am also facing the same issue, Problem comes for family members. For myself , after questionnaire it will show TRV application form , But for family members it will generate Visitor record ext forms application not TRV. please help.

It depends on where your family are.

If you and your family are in Canada, and you have received your BOWP and your family's visitor records already, you can very well submit all of your TRV application online. I had submitted my TRV online and successfully received the passport stamped.

If your family not in Canada, then I would suggest you to submit directly to the consulate of the country where your family are in. (In India it is handled by vfs), it will be much faster. In my case when I applied for my BOWP, I also applied for my family they are in India, and the online application automatically selected "Application mad outside the Canada" for them. This is because I selected country of residence as "India" for them. But I am still waiting for their TRV more than 2 months now (I guess this is because of I applied for the from here. If you check the processing time you can see the difference, from India the time is just 4 days!! - I would have done that). My TRV I received with in 30 days, which I applied separately after I received my BOWP.

So if your family is in Canada: You have to get visitor record first (extension), then have to apply for TRV based on that.
If they are not in Canada, you can directly apply for TRV. Don't forget to select country of residence = their current country (I guess "country where applying" should also be their current country because once the decision is made, the passport request will come based on answers to these questions (7-9). I guess I made a mistake here by selecting 'Canada', now I am worried that they may ask to send the passports of my family to CPP-Ottawa instead of India consulate!)

If you are in Canada: Current country of residence = Canada (no doubt in that).
If your family is in India, for them: Current country of residence = India

Thanks for your reply. My spouse and I are in Canada on BOWP and the trouble comes when you are adding a family member on your online TRV application as other forum members have pointed out. For single TRV applicant it's not an issue. Alternative could be to apply separately under two different accounts. Did you apply as single applicant?
