Dear All,

I have following queries related to my online study permit application, it would be highly appreciated if someone from you could answer these,

1-I am currently working and living in a country other than my country of citizenship with family, on a working visa with unlimited duration (if one job finished, I can start with another employer). Which option we should select in online application from Foreign National, Worker etc?
2-I am planning to move with my family for the entire duration of my studies in Canada (3 years) which options I must select from the Family visit and Visit options? Is it easy to convert visit/family visit into an open work permit while staying in Canada or better to apply now for an open work permit for my wife? And also which option will be better for 2 kids Family visits or visits?

Thanks in Advance,
Stay Safe

1. It's not clear what you're referring to by "online application from Foreign National, Worker etc?" but you may need to provide proof of your legal status in the third country.

2. You need the study permit first before you can apply for an open work permit for your wife. Results are not guaranteed. Your children (assuming they're young) would get visitor status but be allowed to enrol in Canadian schools. It is also better to apply alone without your family as leaving them behind shows ties to outside of Canada, while applying with them suggests you're uprooting yourself permanently and may not leave when you're supposed to.

Thank you very much for your reply Primaprime,
Is it possible to convert a "Visit Visa - All Types" into a "Work Permit" while staying in Canada? I am going to apply for "Visit Visa - All Types" rather than a "Work Permit" for my spouse and two kids.

Thank you

Your spouse could apply for a work permit from inside of Canada after receiving a visitor visa. As I said your children only need visitor visas.

Thanks again for Primaprime,
In light of your first reply, I am now decided to apply for 1 year Visitor Visa rather than Open Work Permit for my spouse to show some ties behind. Do you think that it will make some difference or not?
