Hi All,

My mother was refused to visitor visa for the following reasons:
✅Based on your ties to Canada and in your country of residence- We wrote ( we wrote that she is married and provided her marriage certificate) - we didn’t mention that her husband had a heart attack in December 2015 and that he is disabled grade 2.
✅Based on the length you proposed to stay in Canada - we wrote (this is her first time she applied and asked for 3.5 months)
✅Based on the purpose of your visit - we wrote- that she is coming because we will baptize our son, meet my in-laws and help me with my kids ( her grandkids) while i take a 3 months course during summer, my husband is disabled and is not able to always help me due to his health reasons)
✅Based on the limited prospects of your employment prospects of your country of residence - we wrote- .( she hasn’t been working for the last 10 years up until January 15, 2019 because her husband was earning enough ( we didn’t mention this in Her application) we just provided a letter from her current employer who ok’d the fact that she will be away for 3.5 months. We didn’t write how much she earns because is is paid cash and were not sure how to proof this.
✅Based on your current employment situation - we wrote - currently she works as a cook and cleaner at a family for 3 days a week.
✅Based on your personal assets and financial situation. -we wrote she doesn’t own a house but she rents since 1985 also she provided the utility bills - she hasn’t provided her rent agreement. They own a car that is in her husband name- we didn’t include this info in the application. We showed that she has a $6000 canadian dollars in her bank account without any bank statements because in my country we don’t teally use debit/ credit cards. My mom is old school and uses cash.

We received her refusal letter may 31st. We want to re-apply using the online application. What would you suggest for us to add as a proof to all the concerns the immigration officer had?
Also, if she applies online can I pay for her application online or she needs to pay it by herself? My mom is not a computer person and doesn’t really know even the basics or computer use.

Thank you all in advance and I look forward to any help.

1. Ties are OK but you should mention that she is the sole caretaker for her husband.
2. Ask for a shorter trip. 3.5 months is way too long. Ask for 2-3 weeks
3. Do NOT say that she is coming to "help with my kids". That can constitute work. Simply say she is coming to visit her family. No need to go into all this detail about your husband being disabled and you taking a course etc. This was actually a big mistake and will really lower her chances to get a visa.
4. You need to provide a letter from her employer that states how much money she makes, and that her job is secure even if she goes away for a few weeks
5. The same as 4.
6. How did you show that she had money if you didn't provide any bank statements? You have to provide proof that she has the money - it needs to be in an account that she controls, and the money needs to be consistent with her earnings. The car doesn't matter. The lease doesn't matter, but if she's been living in the same house since 1985 it may be good to include it.

Yes, you can pay the fee yourself. Your mom's profile is a bit weak, but if you stress that she is coming for a short visit, just to see her family, and that she will return to her home country to take care of her husband, and that she has enough money to support herself for the two weeks that she's here, it's possible to get it.

Be prepared for a second rejection though - you already told IRCC that your mom is coming to work as a babysitter for the kids. They don't like that.

We will also provide a doctors note where it will be stated that he is disabled due to his heart attack and will also attach his disability certificate.

We will ask for a short period of time as you suggested 2-3 weeks just to visit us. I’m here for 12 years and she never been here yet.

As soon as we decided to apply for visa she opened a bank account but doesn’t have any transactions. The bank account is in her name and in euros since her husband worked as a truck driver in Europe. What I am trying to say that the bank account is not in the currency of the country that she resides but is very common that people exchange their country’s currency in euros or American dollars. This money are a part of their savings. (We didn’t mention this)

Even tho we will ask for a shorter period of time this won’t make a difference in their decision? Also, around 7 years ago I got married and applied To sponsor my husband at that time that was back home. Our sponsorship application got denied. Could this also by any means be a hidden reason why she got denied?

This is a red flag. You mean to say she never had a bank account before this? Proving that she can afford the trip will be close to impossible if she has had no financial history.

The shorter period will help, but you already asked for a long period and showed that she was coming to work (babysit). They will see her prior application along with the new one. Your prior denial shouldn't affect her application too much, but it appears that her history and profile is very weak indeed and it will be tough for her to get a visa.

What country is she a citizen of?

She is from Moldova ( Eastern Europe).

It is very common that people don’t have bank accounts. My mom is old school and didn’t need one. Her salary is paid cash( again, very common back home) the rent, and utility bills she pays cash. Everything pretty much is pain in cash back home. The new generation is more likely to have a bank account.

Then the best you can do is write a letter explaining all this and hope for the best.

This doesn't help. She already asked for a 3 month visa to help. Even leaving for 2-3 weeks means that your father is not that dependent on your mother.

Are you working? You said your husband is disabled. unfortunately watching your children is considered working and your mother doesn't have a lot of savings. unfortunately you are likely looking at another refusal. I would be looking at other options.

This is what she wrote in her support letter:
There are so many reasons I want to visit Canada. But first of all I want to spend time with my grandchildren, children and meet my sons in law family since we never met before.

Also, Veronica and Harpreet will be baptizing my grandson in July and I don’t want to miss this significant day in my grandson’s life.
My daughter is also planning to study as of May 14 and I could be a great help for them. (And I ended up not taking the course)

He is my step father. He is disabled and not being able to work phisically. He is ok to feed their pets, feed the chicken, ducks they have as well as water the garden by turning on the water. Mom will pre-make all his food as well for the duration she will be away. ( we didn’t include this info in the application.

Confused you previously said you sponsored your husband. Were his parents not in Moldova as well? Are you working? You said your husband is disabled. This could also be a big issue.
