Old passport missing

I’m about to renew my passport soon, however I notice that my old passport will be surrounded by the passport office of my home country when picking up my new passport. So I will not have this old passport if I attend citizenship interview in the future.

I expect this old passport will cover most of my eligible period. What will be the impacts to my application if this expired is missing?

Make colored photocopies and scanned copies of all pages before renewing in case they ask for them

In addition, if you have any non-Eng/Fr stamps on that passport, you may want to get them translated and certified. Could save you lots of explaining at a later point in time.
