old conviction but criminal record shows clean how do i explain?

i'm filling out the spopusal sponsorship and got to the point on backround declaration and i have a dillemma. what do i do in case when back in 2007 i was convicted of illegal drug posession in very small amount (marihuana) and bc it was such a petty crime and it was 5 years ago, it doesn't show on my criminal record. i have a criminal record check in my hands and it shows as clean. how do i explain that in the background check form?? what do i check in those boxes?

Hello

I would include this in the background check section of the apps. Better to be honest because if that conviction shows while they make a check it will definitely raise a red flag. Put it down and explain to them what happened in a separate sheet of paper. This along with your clean Criminal Check abstract will convince the CIC that you've been honest.
Maybe of course wait to hear some other opinions from people with similar experience!
