OHIP while waiting for post-graduation work permit

Hi,

I have done my Master in Ontario and now I am waiting for my post-graduation work permit. I have a full-time job now as well.

Can I apply for an OHIP? or I should wait to receive my work permit?

Yes. You may still have coverage under UHIP.

No you need a valid work permit. You can certainly try. Why don’t you flagpole? Then you can apply and start the 3 month wait period.

You need a work permit and some proof that you have a contract for at least 6 months or a permanent position. Otherwise,you won't be eligible.
