Hi,

I got my PR in 2013 and landed in 2013. I have entered got into Canada after PR card got expired and My PR status is not expired in my landing papers. When I have applied for OHIP card, they told me to get a letter from immigration regarding my valid status. Please suggest what should I do. Problem is I have not yet completed my residency obligation, I am little anxious on this. Thanks and appreciate your help.

Thanks
Vijay

You have three options realistically.......

  1. Wait for the two years to complete your RO and apply for a new PR card and then OHIP
  2. Apply for a new PR card now and risk RO review
Neither is a particularly good option in your situation.

Until then get private insurance for emergency situations. It's not expensive. Less than $100 per month for most people.

Given the OP has mentionned his child has medical issues getting emergency coverage for his health issues could be problematic.

OP didn't mention in this thread that his child has medical issues. Most probably some other user or same user in some other thread. Anyways, few insurance do cover pre-existing conditions.

They were granted H&C at the border due to son's medical condition at the border according to previous post although there was never and update. They were supposed to follow up with CBSA in December.

We did visit CBSA and they said that we are fine after a long discussion and told us as you do not have SIN you have two options now and those options are mentioned by you.
