OHIP Card and mandatory obligation

I landed last yr with my family but I didn't apply for OHIP cards. Now we r out of Canada and planning to come back for good. My wife is pregnant and expected in last wk of November.

I need to know how can I apply OHIP card. Is it possible that I visit alone to Canada and apply cards for all (2 kids and spouse) family members. At this moment my wife cant visit Canada bc some responsibilities at home country.

No - it is not possible for you to visit Canada alone and apply for OHIP cards for your entire family.

Once your family returns to Canada for good, they can apply for their OHIP cards immediately. However they won't be issued OHIP cards and won't be able to use OHIP until three months after they have returned.

Why I cant visit alone to Canada.

Is it mandatory to visit all of my family members to appear personally to service Canada for OHIP cards. Few other cities like Calgary they can accept the application package by post or fax.

For OHIP, you have to apply in person at a Service Ontario Centre. So yes - it is mandatory that they appear personally.
