Hi there,

I am a permanent resident living in Vancouver, have done so for 8 years now.
Me and my family (my wife and 2 children, all canadian citizens) went on a little weekend getaway to the states.
I just realized that my pr card has expired in September last year. I never even thought of it expiring, but i guess it did and now we are in the states with my expired card.
What are the chances of getting back in? I do drive my own vehicle with canadian licence plates, have my family with me, was only gone for 3 days, and have my employee pass for canada post where i work full time. I also have my care card and bc drivers licence.
It's pretty obvious that I live there yes?

I know that you are supposed to get a travel document but with my young 2 kids and a few hours drive to seattle and back, plus the wait, would add a lot of time to our trip. Shall I just chance it and just go? Can't they look my status up in their computer?

Any help would be aprriciated !

You won't have a problem. If you are questioned, they will just check the computer.

Shall I show them my expired card, or tell them I forgot it at home all together? Or does it even matter?

Show the expired card, you probably won't even be asked.
