HI,
I am new to the site...i have found alot of useful information on here so to those who provided this information I thank you so much!
I am trying to get a better idea of how to handle my situation. So here it is, I have recently applied for ODSP however this is a temporary requirement while I receive treatment for my condition as it's for a mental conditions. I had discussed traveling to meet my now husband before I applied for ODSP and decided to go just after I received notification that my application arrived and was being reviewed.
My concern is that i went to visit him after I was told my application had arrived. I was not sure if my doctor would agree to support my claim so I was torn between not going and waiting to be approved by my doctor.
I just wonder if this will have a negative impact on his immigration process. I have requested only a year of support so I can get a handle on my illness and will be going back to work once i have completed any required treatment.
My husband lives in Palestine (West Bank the city of Nablus) I went only for 45 days and married him shortly after I arrived but had been in contact with him for over a year before I went. I know there maybe some doubts about the legitimacy of our marriage however the reason I married him in a short time is due to the current occupation of Palestine by Israel and possibly being denied entry if i tried to return. Also it would be almost impossible for him to gain permission to travel to Canada.
I hope there is someone reading this that has had a similar situation and can offer some helpful advice as to whether or not we should even attempt sponsorship. I should also mention we have ppl in Edmonton Alberta that have offered him a job should be be admitted to canada and a letter stating as much, they also will be helping us to rent a home there. If someone can offer some advice as to what documentation will help prove that we can establish ourselves successfully here in canada without turning to social assistance that would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance to anyone who responds!
