Hello, I applied for citizenship with my minor kid. Both our trackers show that the oath ceremony is scheduled next month. I will be in Canada but my kid will be out of Canada at that time. Is it required for him to be in the country for the oath. How does it work for citizenship certificate for him in this case. Also, can I apply for his passport if he is not in country.
TY.

If 14 or above, the minor's presence is needed. No oath is required for minors 13 or younger, so no need to come back to Canada in that case.
I'm unaware of the procedure to get rid of the kid's PR card if he's not attending the ceremony and has it with him, so maybe someone else can clarify this...
Also, you can apply for the passport of a minor younger than 16 yourself, but be aware that both parents need to sign the document, so check the logistics for that if the other parent is abroad with the kid.

Thanks for the info. Looking at other forums, looks like I will have to cut his PR card as well. But his PR card is with him. Probably need to get it shipped to me asap. Anyone here had similar experience?
