Maybe a bit off topic, but I figured one of you guys might know.

Alright, for those of you who don't know me, Im Canadian, Fiance is American. We have a wedding date set for Dec 19th, all paid and planned. A few weeks ago, some friends of his who immigrated to Canada on a spousal sponsorship told him he should get married in NYS instead, because the wait time for the certificate was 4 weeks instead of like, 14 here in Ontario. So we decided we'd get married in NYS first, then have the wedding/reception/what have you in Dec. La tee da. As I was pretty annoyed at the idea of waiting for the certificate and not applying until March or April, the idea of having that all taken care of and applying right after the wedding, say early Jan, got me quite excited.

Now, service places close on weekends. So, while I'm between jobs (my current contract is ending, I'm moving back to the city I was raised and currently looking for work there) I was going to head down to NYS to get married and all that around the 1st or 2nd of October. The problem we are encountering is that the license needs to be at least 24 hours old, and apparently there aren't many JOP or judges who want to work late on a Friday, or on a Saturday. (I probably wouldn't get there until 3-4pm on the 1st, a Thursday, so the license won't be usable until say 3pm on Friday). If I dont find work right away, I suppose I could go down the next week instead, but I'm really hoping I DO find work right away (currently applying like mad).

Any advice?
