Hello everybody. I am colombian, and I am taking my Ph.D at the University of Pittsburgh, so my legal status in the USA is international student with F-1 VISA. I was planning to attend to an Academic Conference in Vancouver next 1st of June, so I sent my documents last 21st March, and they got the Canadian Consulate in NYC last 25th March. I haven't heard back from them yet, and it has already completed nine weeks ! I've already fax them asking for my application, but they didn't answer me. Furthermore I sent them not only my passport, but also my I-20 and I-94 forms, documents I need while I live in the U.S. In addition, I have a trip scheduled next 20th June to Colombia, but I am very worried I don't have my documents back by then, and I really want to visit my family. I am really anxious, I don't know what to do. According to what I have read If I go in person to the Consulate in NYC, all what they will do is to require me to fill out a form, but the VISA could be denied. Is anyone in the same situation? Any other International Student holding F-1 Visa who can't enter to Canada on time ? I really appreciate any advice or suggestion. Thanks
