hey everyone,

i am finishing my application and ready to send it by the 1st nov. My question is do i need a police record from canada? because i have being living here for 4 years as a student. also i couldnt get a criminal record from senegal Dakar where i lived there for 8 months. I have to be there to get it and i cant afford going there just for a criminal record. :-\
hope there is someone here that could help this is so stressing and exciting at the same time.

You dont need a Canadian criminal record, I actually called the CIC hotline with the same question last week (I have been living in Canada for over a year) and they said that for Canada they ""will do their own investigation". As for Senegal, cannot you get it done through the embassy of Senegal? It might take a while until you get the document with the help of embassy but this is what they should be able to help you with.

THX dzuls so should i call the embassy of senegal in canada? and i just checked the processing time in dakar n its 25 months (holly crap) thats even longer than inland. hopefully it changes by the time we send.

i have another question my visa is expired but my study permit is good till 2014 but the question is can i renew my visa after i send the doc to cic-M cuz i am horried.

It's okay if your visa is expired the important thing is your study permit, visa is just to enter canada.

yes, you should call the embassy of senegal in canada. i am also getting a police certificate from a country that I do not live in anymore and I just need to fill in a form that I have to send to that country and my signature has to be notarized (you can do that at any notary) and then the certificate will be sent to the address that I give on the form. Maybe you can get yours just the same way.

thanks guys i will try and do that! but do you know how long will that take cuz i was planing sending the application by the first. or can i send it first then send the police certificate?

It depends on VO. I sent my application without PCs as I was not sure if I could get them all around the same time; some take longer and others longer. But I did explained it in the cover letter that they have been already requested (and included the copy of requests). I did not have any problem for the first stage approval. And I sent the original PCs to VO when I received my file number.

If it does not take long, I would wait and send them all together. But if it takes too long, then I would send w/o it but explain in the cover letter.

thanks anaMaria i think that i will do that and make a cover letter and explain that i requested and will send it when i get my identification number.
