Nova Scotia Bank Account

Hi Seniors,
I am planning to land in May ..
Thinking of opening Nova scotia bank a/c in India.

Query :-
As funds proof of funds
1. My wife is principal applicant, so is that mandatory to have Joint A/C or any A/C in name of my wife.
OR
If i open an a/c in my name & put money int that .. will that be also valid.


Please reply me seniors.

If you have a plan to just show it as POF and not bring/use that money in Canada then it is good idea. But if you plan to get that money to Canada, then to activate that account you have to go to a particular branch/ office location in Canada and then the account will activate it. The cost associated to travel to that office/ branch location and time taken should also be accounted, initially it can be a big hassle.
The money can be in joint name/ single name, yours/ your spouse, it will not make a difference.
For a landed immigrant, to open a bank account is 20 minutes job. It is musch more easier to visit any close by bank branch and open the account.No hassles.

Will Bank Account balance or statement of balance for Nova Scotia accepted as POF while LANDING ?
