Hello everyone!

I am a Brazilian, married to a Canadian citizen. I would like to know, which documents need the Notary Public.
All the copies? Only the translated ones?

I am going to submit the following documents with the forms:

- Brazilian Passport Copy (pages required on the IMM5443), already in English
- Visitor Visa Copy (Already in English)
- Bith Certificate Copy (in portuguese) and a Copy Translated
- Original Police certificates (in portuguese) and Copies Translated

All these documents need a Notary Public?
Thanks!

Any help will be appreciated!

Well, I took my citizenship card and passport to notary lawyer and he stamped them as certified true copy. I wasn't sure if that was necessary but better be safe than sorry and it only cost 15 dollars tax included.

The birth certificate needs certified true copy, and certified translation.

The police report only needs certified translation (since you are submitting original).

The passport and visa you can just do regular photocopy. No certification needed.

But is a translation by a Notary Public enough....in other words...is it considered certified? Or does it have to be by a professional translator/agency??

Translation of documents
Any document that is not in English or French must be accompanied by:

•the English or French translation; and
•an affidavit from the person who completed the translation; and
•a certified copy of the original document.

Note: An affidavit is a document on which the translator has sworn, in the presence of a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the translator is living, that the contents of their translation are a true translation and representation of the contents of the original document. Translators who are certified members in good standing of one of the provincial or territorial organizations of translators and interpreters of Canada do not need to supply an affidavit.

Important information. Translations by family members are not acceptable.
