Hello,

I am doing some research on notary publics and official translators around London. I was wondering if any of you could give me an idea of what you know in terms of prices for notary public/translators in London/England so that I can compare with my findings. I just want to make sure that I am not going to be ripped off, since I have never had to have anything notarised.

Any help would be appreciated.
 
Notaries appear to charge in two ways (i) per item to notarize, (ii) per the hour. For the volume of paperwork an immigration application is going to need to be notarized it's cheaper to pay for their time; hourly rates are 200--250 GBP/hour. I'd estimate it will take no more than an hour to notarize all your immigration documents.

this figure is eye-popping.... esp. to an Indian... uuuufff... 200-250 GBP would hurt just for notary
 
The cheapest notary charges are from £50-£80 for the first document and varies from £5-£10 for each of the remaining document(s). For that you will have to do some research it may be cheaper to travel to another city and get it done. Go to yell.com and find out the notaries email id and ask how much they charge.
 
I am a notary in London and if you want any help with your documents for Canada, please give me a call. I confirm that the charges are around £80.00. This is quite a lot more than the fee charged in Canada but then there is a lot more work to be done. For the notary, it involves registering the documents centrally and keeping a copy of the documents on file pretty much for ever. In addition to all of the registration formalities for the document, notaries in England have a very stringent regulator and that is another reason for the very high cost.

I'm pleased to say that I deal with a large number of documents for Canada and we know the form that is required. We are right in Central London by Victoria station and are always happy to help.
