I am getting very close to finishing the inland spousal pr application but one thing is concerning me.

A country specific requirement for my Colombian wife is for all civil documents to be notarized. But she currently has her original birth certificate here from the registry (not notarized). She also has a translated copy of the original birth certificate.

Will this be enough? I really would like to send in this application soon but it looks like this would ad a huge delay to get a notarized version.

I just don’t understand why it wouldn’t be enough with the original birth certificate if they already allowed her to obtain a visa into Canada without one

Does it specify it has to be notarized in Columbia? If not there are lots of Notaries here. Make a copy and bring it to a notary where they will have you swear it is a true copy of an origional document and they will stamp it.

Another thought, if that isn't possible, could it be notarized in the Embassy or consulate here?
