My AOR is on Nov 27th. I work in Toledo, Ohio. I want to commute to work from Windsor, ON (1 hour 15 min drive) to fulfill my residency requirements as soon I get my PR.

I am not a permanent resident but on an F1 and an H1B visa in the US for the past 3+ years.
Can I apply for a NEXUS card as soon as I get my PR?

I see some forum posts where H1B holders have applied for it and received a NEXUS card. But on the website it says :

Permanent residents of Canada and the U.S. must have resided as legal residents of Canada or the U.S. for a minimum of three years before the day of application.

1. So is it only applicable for Permanent Residents of the US i.e. Green Card holders or even applicable to H1B holders?

2. Also if I am eligible can I apply for a NEXUS card as soon as I get my PR?

3. Is there any downside to getting a NEXUS card?

Hi, did you get the nexus card? I am currently planning to get one. I will have to travel on F1 to school in Michigan
