Hoping someone can help!

-We are applying outland via Mexico City

-On the country specific guide it asks for a non accompanying family member declaration
(http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/guides/3908e.pdf)

-We have been advised that we can only have this declaration done at the Canadian Consulate here.

-Do you know is this something they will have as part of a form/document that we sign, or is this a document that we actually need to create and then take it in to be signed.

Thanks so much!

It mentions the form in the Guide. See the link above. If your spouse has minor children who will be coming to Canada, you need to complete this form along with the other parent, and have it witnessed, so you can take the children out of the country.

Hi Charlie, thanks for ur post. We aren't actually bringing the children though, they are non accompanying. And I haven't been able to find a form that we need to have witness for non accompanying children but i do know that we have to do a stat declaration. Just wondering if the notary public or person at the consulate has all the information there, or if we need to arrive with a typed up letter in a specific format.

The declaration for non-accompanying children you're referring to is the one that means you will not be sponsoring the children EVER? Then that one you can only get from the Consulate.

There is a "separation statement" in the East Europe/Russia" country specific guide. There is also one in a Buffalo Consulate guide but I could never find that one online. Before you complete one of these you should do everything in your power to get the children's information and have their medicals.

What it's asking for is a Non-Accompanying Family Members Declaration, I've posted the info below. I have to get this to say that they aren't accompanying with us, but we will still be getting their medicals, passports, photos etc and saying we would still like to retain eligibility to be sponsored.

If you have family members who do not intend to emigrate to Canada with you, you must submit a notarized statutory declaration with your application which:
•identifies these family members and their relationship to you;
•states your intention to proceed to Canada without them; and
•indicates whether or not you wish these persons to retain eligibility to be sponsored by you once you have settled in Canada.
Note: Non-accompanying family members are still required to successfully meet immigration medical and security standards at the same time as you. They will retain eligibility to be sponsored by you as a member of the Family Class once you have settled in Canada for as long as they are your:
•spouse,
•common-law partner, or
•dependent children
as defined in the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act and Regulations.
If you have non-accompanying family members who are either a spouse from whom you are legally separated or your children who are not in your legal custody, it is not necessary for them to be examined. However, if they are not examined at the time of your application, you will not be able to sponsor them at any time in the future.
