Yes you need to otherwise you will never be able to sponsor your child and it could be deemed as misrepresentation. Is there a reason your child will not accompany you? I don't mean to be inquisitive I just wanted to share a few ideas but wanted to know this to determine if the ideas are relevant to your situation.

Thank you very much for your response. My ex-wife has a custody and she is objecting the immigration of my son with me. But I want to be able to sponsor him afterwards and want to fill out application forms correctly.

I don't have my son's docs, can I write LOE to the authorities explaining why I'm not able to provide the copy of son's passport. I have a divorce though. Any suggestions? T

If you want to be able to sponsor him later - you need to obtain a copy of this passport for the application and he will also have to pass the medical.
