I am a qualified Mechanical Engineer and want to apply under NOC 2132 (Mechanical Engineer). But in order to satisfy the latest condition that requires us to show min one year experience out of the past 10 year experience in the listed 38 occupations, i have decided to claim that one year experience under 7216 (Contractor / supervisor for various mechanical trades). Now the only thing that worries me is the employment requirements for this occupation, which says it has to be a seconday school / respective trade contractual exp, DOES NOT HAVE TO BE A MECHANICAL ENGINEER, which actually i am by profession. Will it work for a qualified Mechanical Engineer to claim experience under such an occupation which appears apparently far below his profile !!!

Hi hasni, the current list has 29 occupations and not 38 and your 7216 is part of list of 29 occupations

My personal opinion is that Mechanical engineer is overqualified for 7216 and you should not pin lot of hopes on the same. You may still try your luck with the risk of losing CAD 500 at the max.

to ankit_20,
I intend to apply with my family, 5 members in all. Should i go ahead !!

My personal opinion is that there is a high risk of rejection but you would not loose money as far as I can tell you. So No harm trying

Keep in mind that I am no expert at immigration matters and you may want to consult an expert or a lawyer before you take your decision

In the FSW1 category, it is the performance of required duties in the NOC that must be demonstrated. If you provide the desired proof, then why hesitate? Your engineering experience would also be useful to a contractor or mechanical trades supervisor. If you still have concerns, Ankit gives you sound advice to ask a professional. Good luck.

Exactly, i do have almost similar understanding but still iwould like some senior member to comment on it.
