Hello everybody.

I work as Office supervisor in small trucking company. I sent email to HRSDC just to confirm does my duties match my NOC code.

Operational manager gave me this as a suggestion for reference leter:

"• Responsible for the functioning of the office.
• Overlook accounting and book keeping.
• Keep the customers informed about their pickup and delivery status.
• Handle customer complaints.
• Prepare monthly progress and business reports.
• Pay bills, order supplies and issue payments.
• Make collections calls.
• Supervise dispatch orders given to drivers.
• Assist dispatcher in specialized tasks.
• Schedule maintenance and repair of trucks.
• Follow up insurance related work.
• Maintain contact with all drivers and listen to their complaints.
• Other tasks and responsibilities assigned by management"

I received this as an answer from HRSDC: "In order for us to provide you with a potential NOC code, we require the following additional information about the occupation:

- a more detailed description of the main duties;
- the education required for entry into the occupation"

Does any senior know what is the issue with those duties, so I can tell my Operations manager? Please give me some advise, because I plan to apply in a month. Should I go and see some imigration lawyer?

Thank You all in advance!

The NOC code under which I plan to apply is 1211. But now Im wondering what my NOC code is.. :(

Better seek advice from Lawyer if you don't know what your NOC is. Sometime your NOC is not actually what you think.

In the NOCs, "supervisor" refers to those who supervise other people (not an "office"). NOC 1211 is for supervisors of office clerks/staff. That does not look appropriate at all. NOC 1215 might be more appropriate, but you don't mention any duties related to supervising other workers. If you supervise other workers, that needs to be made much more clear and be the focus of the job description.

HRSDC couldn't make a determination because you list lots of tasks, but there's no clear sense of your main role in the company, or even what the company does (unless you told them it was a trucking company).

Since it looks like you report to the Operations Manager, your duties look like an administrative assistant to me; this is unfortunate, since NOC 1241 is not currently eligible under the CEC program. NOC 1221 (Administrative officers) is also currently ineligible.

In your case a lawyer may help.

Goku: I see that You apply under Supervisor NOC class too? What kind of reference letter did You get? Should my manager focus more on supervising duties?
I compared my duties with the NOC code and duties that I found online, and I have them all. My manager doesnt have experience writting reference letters for imigration, thats why Im afraid that he would make some mistake

Do you supervise office staff? If yes, perhaps the office manager would have good suggestions how to revise the duties (even if the other person signs the letter).

BTW, if you agree that the duties of "administrative assistant" are the best fit, even if you're not eligible under CEC, you might be under your province's PNP program, or even the arranged employment stream of the Federal Skilled Workers program -

Yes I do, but situation is little bit diferent in my case since its a trucking company. So office staff are dispachers, and most of our emloyers are truck drivers. I am something like "bridge" between them.

Yes it has to be supervisor duties. Reference letter is same. Duties you mention is different. In my case I got chance to prepare own reference letter and my boss review it.

I didnt receive PM yet! Can you please resend it.

I saw that program, and my ielts is good enough to apply. My employer will give me permanent job offer for sure. But I gain my work experience under open work permit, so Im not sure if I can apply.
Also, my WP expires on may 31st so I dont have time to do credential assessment :(

Why are You thinking of applying when You applied under CEC already?
