Hello,

I received an ITA in the Feb 13th draw which i was not expecting as i hadnt kept my EE profile updated. Initially i created my EE profile with NOC 2173 but got to know i dont fall under that and i changed it to 2171 (but did not submit the changes). On Feb 13th i got an invite (i assume the NOC is 2173) but when i checked with my HR i got to know my WP was filed under NOC 2283. I am in a dilemma now on how to proceed. Should i just upload all relevant documents with supporting LOE's & proceed or decline and get into the pool?

Suggestions please.

Thanks!

Don’t decline!!! You can still change your NOC post ITA. If it’s your primary NOC, make sure to change it also under the “primary work” section on top of the work history section.

You can add an LOE to mention that you chose 2283 as that’s what’s indicated in your wp application. Just make sure that the work reference letter/job offer letter wordings submitted in your wp application matches your PR work reference letters and you’re good to go.

Can you share the Twitter post?

You can watch this video, it explains why it’s okay to proceed and change NOC. Skip to 3:20, kind of similar to your case.

Thanks. There were some follow up qs, that IRCC’s Twitter handle didn’t bother answering. And the qs have a point. If you’re still eligible after changing NOC - meaning it’s still NOC 0, A or B and your CRS is still higher than the cut off, why would you need to decline? Your circumstances didn’t materially change between ITA and eAPR in such a way that you wouldn’t get invited.

you can further read here: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...-electronic-application-on-section-a11-2.html

For CEC, you’re required to meet:
  • The MEC of the program you were invited in - so for CEC it’s 1 year Canadian work experience in NOC 0, A or B and valid language assessment results based on your primary NOC (CLB 5 for B or CLB 7 for A and 0), AND
  • At least the minimum cut off score of the round that you were invited in
The way I understand it, as long as you meet the above two criteria, you’ll be fine in eligibility. So even you replace your NOC with another NOC as long as it’s 0, A or B, as you would still have been invited under the CEC.

The only problem is if you switch your primary NOC from B to 0 or A and your language exam results is not CLB 7. On this particular case, you would not meet the CEC MEC as you don’t have a valid language exam results to match your primary NOC. You would really need to decline the ITA as IRCC would refuse your application.
