Hello All,

Has any one changed their NOC code after filing the application , I mean sending a letter from Employee with updated NOC code, Does CIC considers the change , Please advise. My file was kept under review stating that my duties in the empl letter does not fully match with NOC code.

Thanks in Advance and your help is much appreciated.

Unfortunately, You cannot change NOC code after submitting your application. In fact, you cannot change any detail in the IMM 0008 schedule 8 application (work experience details).

Only thing you can do now is provide documents supporting your stated NOC (NOC in the original application). Other option is to withdraw your application and apply again (rather than getting refused after many months).

I don't fully agree with this, you can make changes even after you applied. You have to have a solid explanation that why are you changing this.

Do you have any example of someone doing this?

You can change other details in the application package: Name, marital status, address change etc.

But, IMM 0008 Schedule 8 information cannot be updated. You cannot add more experience, you cannot change NOC and you cannot submit new language test results. You can email OttPilot and confirm. My friend emailed CIC and got an answer that work experience details cannot be updated in IMM0008 Schedule 8 form. However, there are instances where CIC accepted new reference letters supporting the stated NOC.

I think there is a difference though between changing noc after application and changing noc on finding out that your application is under review. Since the visa officer has already started processing the file and has in fact passed it on to be reviewed by another officer, I cannot see how changing the noc code will be allowed.

Thanks guys for immediate response , But in my case my Work permit NOC is 2171 but i have stated the NOC as 2174 and Iam not sure why officer says that duties are not fully matching the NOC code stated.

That is the main reason that Iam going to send an updated letter from employee to officer and requesting him to consider my NOC code as 2171 instead 2174 and Iam also going to say that my past work permits are approved under 2171.

Please advise.

Why, if your work permit is one noc would you apply under another noc? It's not guaranteed that they would agree with the work permit it raises more red flags if you apply under a noc that differs from your permit.

I disagree that you should fight this - I don't see how you can rectify it given your file is already in review. I'm sorry to say but I would start preparing a new application that can be sent off in the case that you are rejected.

Yes that is what iam going to do by sending a cover letter and updated employee letter to them stating that iam performing duties as per my NOC code in Work permit and also saying that Kind of typo and lack of knowledge on NOC codes during filing process.

Employee letter is not going to be new , it is just an addendum with same duties but they are going to mention the all my work permit details in the letter and supporting my duties. In this case my employer is supportive and this letter is going to be from my head of HR.

Thank you for replying on this thread and all my efforts are to make any changes before they make any decision on my application.

Please advise if iam missing any thing here.

Thanks a lot

What is the NOC you mentioned in the application IMM0008 Schedule 8? Provide an updated letter supporting that NOC.

Hi

I have provided 2174 as NOC code in my application , but now iam changing it to NOC code 2171 and iam providing an Addendum of my employee letter supporting that NOC code. Please advise in case in miss any thing.

Thanks a ton for your help.

This would also raise a RED FLAG. I suggest you withdraw and re-file.
Unless, the reference letter you initially include on your application has NO NOC CODE but rather just the description of your jobs and responsibilities then you can claim that there was a typo error. IF however the employment reference has an NOC CODE 2174 (instead of 2171 as per your work permit) then you are doomed. The VO will suspect that you are working on a different NOC than the NOC you are authorized to work. Before it goes to that, just withdraw and file again.

Reading at all the comments - this case has now taken a different direction from the first post.

But responding to eds1275's question - Yes my friend, I am a live example of doing this. I worked as a Management Trainee where I had to work in different departments. When I submitted my application I originally provided them with only 1 NOC code. After 4 months I realized that one of the department's worked in my job didn't match the leading NOC. So I updated the IMM 0008 schedule 8 with two NOCs and wrote a cover letter in which I admitted my mistake, and CIC accepted it.

Yes, that is possible even more NOCs if you are holding an OPEN WORK PERMIT. I believe on OP's subsequent post he mentioned his work permit under 2171. Thus he should only work under that NOC.
