I am new to the Federal Skilled Worker program and thus would like to clarify a very basic eligibility question:

The CIC FSW page states the following:

"There are also sub-caps of 1,000 for each of the 50 eligible occupations. The caps do not affect people with a valid job offer. These are the last applications we will accept under the current system before Express Entry launches in January 2015."

I am eligible to apply under NOC 2171 and am currently working in Canada for the past one year. NOC 2171 has already received 1,000 applications but since the website says the cap does not affect people with a valid job offer, does that mean I can still apply under NOC 2171 even though the sub-cap has already been reached?

Thanks for reading my question and I really appreciate you taking the time to help me out. :)

It depends. If you have an approved LMIA - then yes.

If you are on a PGWP then you don't qualify to apply unless your employer obtains an approved LMIA.

Got it! I am on a PGWP and hence thanks for clarifying on the PGWP part.
