First thing - your Job Title DOES NOT MATTER. Only the duties need to match.
If Account Manager is listed as an example title under NOC 1114 then as far as CIC is concerned the duties mentioned under NOC 1114 applies to account manager as well and all the other example titles listed. There will most certainly not be another set of duties somewhere else for Account Manager or individually for each example title listed in a NOC.
Thanks for your advice. The problem is, other titles under the NOC 1114, has different types of duties, compared to 'account Manager'. This confuses me. If you have a look at the duties of the 06 job titles described in 1114, you'll see the difference among each of them.
To resolve this issue, I mailed HRSDC, with my job description. In response, they told me the following:
"Based on the information that you have provided, the following National Occupational Classification (NOC) code may be appropriate for the occupation that you described. Please verify the link below (they gave a link to NOC 1114 at HRSDC site) to ensure that the education, main duties and employment requirements correspond to your occupation. You are in a better position to determine whether or not this NOC code reflects your job.
The final decision for selecting the most appropriate National Occupational Classification (NOC) code is each individual's responsibility as you know your education, skills and abilities better than anyone else. However, the ultimate decision remains the responsibility of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) as they are the only ones who have the authority to determine if the information provided meets their criteria."
Then I asked them again, to provide a list of duties of 'account manager'. In response, they said :
"Please note that job titles and descriptions are not universal. Canada uses the National Occupational Classification (NOC) system to classify the over two million job titles in its labour market. It is impossible to cover all the titles used by the employers and workers throughout the Canadian labour market. The NOC code is mainly assigned based on the duties performed and education requirements rather than the job title itself."
Another thing, I tried to see job adverts in various canadian job sites, for 'account manager', which closely matches my present duties. Based on this, should I try to write the main duties on my own?
how much chance do I have being accepted, if these duties are not mentioned in NOC pages ?
