Hi,

I'm a lebanese residing in the UAE and am looking to immigrate to canada. I applied last october under a couple of NOC's, I had worked at prominent multinationals (AIG,Motorola,citibank) as an accountant before moving to Citibank as a personal banker. On January, I received an email telling me my application was rejected since the person assesing my application found that the duties I had enetered do not suffice under the NOC that I had mentioned (NOC 1111-Financial auditors & accountants). I know for a fact that my duties do fall under this NOC (There can be no 2 definitions for 'accountant' god knows!) but I summarised my duties to fit them in the alloted space in the application, and I think that unfairly compromised the ruling on my application, and had they asked for further proof, I would've supplied my official work contracts that clearly state my duties as an accountant!
I wanted to reapply and amend the description but when I finally spoke to a consultant,he said he'll reapply for me (and he thinks I'll definitely pass since I qualify) but he wants to charge me a large fee, and he also says I should decide before April 10 or else the processing time for applications after that date could stretch upto 64 months!!He also says chances are I'll get rejected again if I reapply by myself under the pretense that I'm just manipulating words to fit the NOC.
I would appreciate any help I could get!!Do I still have time to reapply by myself??Will my application get rejected again under that reason even though I do truly fall under NOC 1111 and I can prove it with my contracts?

I have just pick the duties that I have done from the NOC list and paste them and they accepted them. You do not need to pay a consultant money because I am sure that what they are going to do for you. I went through a consultant and that is what I was told to do.

I am agree with above member. You are not only one, there are many applicants who get rejected their applications due to insufficient duties/explanation on forms, but then they reapplied and get approved. This is a fact that forms are not sufficient to write down all duties, you should always include an additional sheet explaining you jobs and responsibilities in details.

Don't pay intention to Consultants etc, you are educated, you can read write and have enough time, than this forum and members are your consultant and helper. Go ahead, prepare your forms and write down all your duties and jobs in details on an extra sheet. I am sure you will make it happen. No one knows yet, what going to happen after/on 10th April, they may short or extend NOCs, if you can submit application before 10, then do it as soon possible. Good luck.

My brother, These consultants are trying to milk us dry oh. I have paid a consultant in Uk but i tell you what i learn from this forum is much more than what the consultant knows. You can still beat the april 10th deadline if you move fast. To start with go to the websites and copy out the duties of a accountant. Please dont replicate the duties but write your own around what thiers says and resubmit.

I feel all you need is to dedicate one day to filling the form, and then send it through DHL to reduce delivery delays. Also include another sheet and give details of all the work you have been doing but make sure it corresspond with what they have on thier websites. look at what i copied from thier website.

Accountants perform some or all of the following duties:
o Plan, set up and administer accounting systems and prepare financial information for an individual, department, company or other establishment
o Examine accounting records and prepare financial statements and reports
o Develop and maintain cost finding, reporting and internal control procedures
o Examine financial accounts and records and prepare income tax returns from accounting records
o Analyze financial statements and reports and provide financial, business and tax advice
o May act as a trustee in bankruptcy proceedings
o May supervise and train articling students, other accountants or administrative technicians

this is what i wrote in the Schedule 3 form. and got approved from CIO, NS. and at the second stage i got the experience letter according to these duties.

o Plan, set up and administer accounting systems and prepare financial information for
the company
o Examine accounting records and prepare financial statements and reports
o Develop and maintain cost finding, reporting and internal control procedures
o Examine financial accounts and records and prepare income tax returns from accounting records
o Analyze financial statements and reports and provide financial, business and tax advice

no i did not. i just wrote my own schedules using thiers as a guide. i feel its not pleasant to replicate exactly what they have written.
