Hi

I am planning to apply for NOC 0631. Hopefully it will be there next year. My previous Employer in US has agreed to give a reference letter. My question is if they dont include Salary details in that is that ok. Also I have worked for 3 companies in India , Infosys, Aricent and now Mavenir. Do all of them need to give reference letter. The Employer in US was for Food industry which wil help me for NOC 0631 whereas in India I have been working for Telecom.

Any inputs will be appreciated.

THanks,

Sujeet

Any jobs you have done in the past 10 years that fall in skill categories 0, A, or B should have job duty references included so you can earn the maximum of 4 years of points (21). As there are supposed to be changes to the point system in the "new year" next month, you may well require MORE than 4 years of experience to get the maximum experience points, so it would be to your advantage to get the best references you can. Good Luck.

Hi Pippin

I have worked for telecom from 2003-till date and from 2000-2003 in NOC 0631. Only that is what I can use for applying for PR. Not the telecom exp.

I am able to get the one from 2000-2003. Do I still require to show for 2003-till date even though it doesnt belong to the same NOC.

Hi sujeetss
In providing work experience documents, you need to check your visa office specific requirements for this. below is that of new delhi visa office as an example;
WORK EXPERIENCE
For you and your spouse or common-law partner:
• notarized employment contracts from your present and past employers,
accompanied by an English or French translation
• original and up-to-date letters of reference from your past and current employers.
Letters must be written on company letterhead and show the company’s full
address, telephone and fax numbers, and be stamped with the company’s official
seal.
Letters must include all of the following information:
• the specific period of your employment with the company
• the positions you have held during the period of employment and the time spent
in each position
• full details of your main responsibilities and duties in each position
• your total annual salary plus benefits
• the signature of your immediate supervisor or the personnel officer of the
company
• a business card of the person signing
If you have experience as a self-employed person, provide copies of:
• business/company registration documents,
• proof of business conducted with clients (invoices, bills, client references)
• balance sheets,
• income tax returns, and/or
• proof of your licence to practice (if you are a private practitioner)
If you cannot provide a reference from your current employer, provide a
written explanation (i.e. employment contracts, work descriptions,
performance appraisals describing job duties).

from this visa office specification, you need to provide a letter from your current employers but if letters are not available, then a written explanation would do with supporting documents like employments contracts.
hope this helps.

Well my question is if I am applying for NOC 0631 Do I still need to provide reference from Telecom Exp

yes, you need to provide reference letter for your present job, whether related to the noc you are applying or not. at times it might be very difficult to get a ref. letter from your current employer that is why an explanatory letter is required. if claim that you are unemployed then you do not need to add any ref letter. the visa officers wants proof that you are currently showing that you are currently employed or not.
hope it helps

I understand the Telecom job does not fall into one of the NOC 29 categories from what you are saying. You will have less than four years to claim (2001-2003) in 0631. IF the job you did from 2003 to the present is a SKILL LEVEL O, A or B, that can also give you points ---- as long as you have a minimum of that ONE YEAR IN THE NOC 29 JOB. That's why I was suggesting you look carefully at the present job and see if it will help with points. If so, you will need a letter from your company, or if one is not obtainable, an explanation letter of your duties and why you were unable to get an official letter. Any jobs that are NOT IN SKILL LEVEL O,A or B do not require a letter but will be mentioned in your history since age 18.

Hi Pippin and Brav21,

I will be applying under NOC 0631. But since I am self employed (own a restaurant) I will not have any appointment letter or payslips etc. In this case what do you suggest I can provide as a proof of my duties and work experience.

For a self employed as mentioned by you Brav21, I need to submit customer reference letters. How would a customer walking into my restaurant have an idea of my duties as a manager at my restaurant? I wonder how to achieve this?

And when you say invoices, do you mean the bills that I give my customers? How will I produce proof of business conducted with clients?

Basically what are the documentation I can provide. I am so very confused. Please help me out.

Thx
