No Update on Visitor Visa for more than 3 weeks

Hello,

I applied for a Canada Visitor visa on December 20th, 2018. I got a submission confirmation email the same day, but since then there have been no updates on the application. The current status of the application is:

"Your application is in progress. We will send you a message when we start reviewing your eligibility."

This hasn't changed since the day I applied online.

I am an Indian citizen with a valid US work visa residing in the US.

On other threads I saw that applicants have received their passport request letters within a week. I checked the current processing time for Visitor visa (from outside Canada) applying from United States of America is 61 days. Is this normal? I have travel plans for early May.

Has anyone else seen processing times as long as this? Is there any way to find out if something is missing or wrong with my application?

The processing time is what it is unfortunately and even then you cannot go by what others say given every application is unique plus can even be affected sometimes by applicants not applying from their home country.

No point really in trying to find out anything until after the processing time has passed.
